Episode 22: Caleb's Challenge
By far the most Aldarn-centric episode of the series, and the first episode where Aldarn was ever featured in a preview, this episode was like a dream come true for Aldarn fans.

The episode begins with Caleb, Aldarn, and some fellow rebels sneaking into a granary where Phobos is hoarding the grain he has stolen from the subjects of Meridian. Aldarn seethes with anger when he thinks of the time and effort his fellow Meridianites put into growing the grain; before the rebels can attempt to take it back, however, Phobos' guards attack. Aldarn fights bravely, but ends up cutting loose a large sack of grain, which buries him. He shouts at Caleb to escape, while he and his rebel companions are taken prisoner.

Aldarn and his companions are brought before Phobos, whom Aldarn continually defies. Phobos leaves the prisoners in the company of his sister, Elyon. Aldarn warns his friends to keep their guards up, but, unfortunately, Elyon's powers prove too strong to resist. As they argue back and forth, Elyon unknowingly hypnotizes Aldarn, and although he temporarily breaks free, Elyon's immense power overwhelms him, and he falls under her spell. Once he is under her power, Elyon convinces Aldarn that she will return the grain to her people, and that she will urge Phobos to sign a peace treaty with the rebels.

In the meantime, Caleb has sought out the Guardians in Heatherfield, asking them to return to Meridian to help him rescue Aldarn. They do so, but upon reaching the Infinite City, discover that Aldarn is waiting for them. They greet each other warmly, and Aldarn informs Caleb that Princess Elyon has promised a peace treaty. Caleb is distrustful of Phobos, but Aldarn, still under Elyon's mind control, is adament that the treaty must be signed. The two argue, and Aldarn demands that Caleb compete against him in a challenge for the leadership of the rebellion.

Caleb is upset, but cannot do anything to prevent the challenge from taking place. Therefore, he and Aldarn race across hazardous terrain, battling flesh-eating plants and crossing bottomless pits. Aldarn beats Caleb in the first half of the challenge, but in the second part, the hand-to-hand combat, he is defeated by Caleb, slipping off the edge of a high cliff-like bridge. Caleb catches Aldarn and begs him to remember their friendship. Aldarn, remembering the good times he and Caleb have shared, breaks free of Elyon's spell, and forfeits the battle against Caleb. As the friends embrace, the Guardians appear, informing the Meridianites that Phobos' peace treaty-signing ceremony was a trap. Aldarn feels guilty for what he has done, although it was not his fault, and Caleb reassures him, proposing an escapade to go free the grain while Phobos is still under the impression that they were killed by his trap.
