Episode 23: The Battle of Meridian Plains
This was yet another awesome Aldarn character-development episode. It was the first time that Aldarn really got to demonstrate his ability as second-in-command of the rebels.
When the rebel army gets trapped inside the Infinite City and Caleb is nowhere to be seen, Aldarn decides to take charge by unifying the troops and beginning the assault on Phobos' castle.
Aldarn proves himself to be an excellent leader. After the initial cave-in, we see him assess the situation, consult advisors, and make a decision. As the masses panic about what to do, Aldarn stands above them, gives a speech that
rallies them, and then makes preparations to begin the attack.
Under Aldarn's guidance, the rebels march on the city. Aldarn fights vailiantly in battle, using a myriad of weapons: from a sword to a spear to a lasso. When Caleb finally appears, Aldarn briefs him on the situation and allows Caleb to resume command. Together, Aldarn and Caleb are the first to scale the walls and infiltrate the city. Everything seems to be going fine and dandy until Elyon shows up and goes ballistic. Cornelia tries to calm her down, but Elyon blasts her with an energy beam and she goes flying backwards into, not Caleb's, but Aldarn's waiting arms. Aldarn cradles her there for a few joyous seconds when Elyon unleashes another energy blast and Aldarn disappears. We learn in the next episode that he and the other rebels have been imprisoned in the dungeon. Caleb and the Guardians, however, seemd to be miraculously immune to this energy beam and escaped.
